Over the years many artists change their image and style of their music throughout their music careers; reconstructing their appearance. Theorist Richard Dyers states that “Star images are always extensive, multimedia, and intertexual”. This means that stars are artificially engineered towards what consumers want.
This is an example that shows what Justin Bieber looked like at the beginning of his debut but after a bit of recognition, his image was transformed with also his fashion changed from suits to leather coats and a more retro style.
Rihanna debuted with an innocent image as a young innocent woman. After her album ‘Good girl gone bad’ her whole image was reconstructed and after that she had taken on the ‘bad girl’ identity. The picture o the right shows her hairstyle which has become a trend amongst young teenage girls; showing that her new image is successful and popular.
Vanessa hudgen’s gained her fame through the musical ‘High School musical’ which was about young teenage love expressed through music.
This then allowed her to proceed in her music career which is where her image was renovated from an innocent high school actress in to a sexy musical star.
