Promotion of artist can be done in many ways and is mainly done in two ways; virally and tangibly. This is done by posters on social networking sites and posters on bus shelters and billboards. The name of the artist tends to be larger than the name of the album.

This is an example of a poster for Taylor Swifts album ‘Fearless’ which is almost transparent allowing all focus on Taylor Swift. This style is commonly used for POP genres; also giving main focus to artist face.

Posters are used to promote artists and have recently become extremely popular on bus adverts. This is a contemporary way of adverting music. This allows people of all ages.

With pop artists the colours used are usually bright, whereas with Hip Hop artists tend to have darker and bolder colours. By using these colours it attract their main target audiences who associate it with the same genre.

The usage of the colour red is common with both genres. I found that with young females the posters are quite similar as they are both portraying young girls becoming women; combining innocence and seductiveness.

Carly Rae Jepson’s poster uses fun and bright colours that display youth. Her stance contrasts with the youthful image as it reflects a mature person. The frivolous typography emphasises the felinity which is common in POP genre posters.
