Åkerlund has worked with pop singer Madonna in numerous occasions with music videos such as “Music” and “Jump”. Moreover he directed her documentary film “I’m going to tell you a secret “. He directs music videos with a different approach and makes peculiar but eye-catching music videos. The release of Lady Gaga’s "Telephone" made by Åkerlund's first video of 2010 was a massive hit and made him more recognisable.
It is not his first collaboration with Lady Gaga the two worked together on the video for "Paparazzi" which was also a well-directed music video.
